SCALABILITY
Project management
is a very important
skill for the home
based business
entrepreneur. Yet,
most if not all home
business
entrepreneurs are
untrained project
managers, managing a
business. Think
about how cool that
is.
My advice to you is
if you’re managing a
home based business,
it would be a very
good idea to build
up your time and
project management
skills.
Here are some of the
many guidelines that
you need to follow
in order for your
home based business
to be successful.
# You should plan
your routine. In
order to have a real
business you must
have a vision and
create a strategy to
achieve that vision.
And if you do this
you’ll get better
execution of your
efforts and see
better results.
# Stop going around
collecting tactics
or secrets and only
buy products and
services that will
support your
strategy in
achieving your
vision.
# Remember that
you're your own
boos:
This means the
responsibility of
ensuring it success
rely on you. The
very boss in your
regular job (who is
hated more than
often) does a lot of
work for you. Be it
project management,
disciplining or
producing the
necessary motivation
for the required
results. Now your
run your own
business, therefore,
you must Study and
use project
management
methodologies to
grow your business.
# Realize that your
time is all you have
therefore you need
to know its current
value and have a
plan to increase it.
# Always remember to
build your home
based business
around scalability
and leverage.
# Study and
understand how to
outsource and build
a network of
relationships, so
you have access to
talented freelancers
whenever you need
them.
# Use Process
Mapping:
Process mapping is
one the best ways to
document the way
work should be done
and how it
interrelates to
other activities in
your work at home
business. When you
start using process
mapping, it'll be
really easy to see
why your current way
of doing an activity
is more productive.
Process map makes it
easier to understand
the interactions,
flow, sub-process
and activities that
constraint your
performance.
# To manage your
time working
efficiently on your
home based business,
you have to delegate
what hours are for
productive work and
non-productive work.
Explain to family —
especially children
— that you aren't
choosing work over
spending time with
them, but that you
have to work during
work hours.
# Productive Time is
when you directly
work on your bottom
line that is
generating income.
It is time spent
creating products,
market products or
website, improving
your marketing
process, managing
money making
projects, and
creating scalability
in your home based
business.
# Non-Productive
Time is activities
that distraction you
from doing
productive work.
Here are some
examples of
non-productive are:
surfing the
Internet, checking
and reading email,
answering your
phone, studying and
learning time,
checking Web site
stats, organizing
your desk, and
cleaning your
office. Now I'm not
saying you shouldn't
spend any time on
these activities.
You need to spend
time learning, and
you do need to talk
to your friends. I'm
just pointing it out
so you won't confuse
that with earnings.
Remember the saying
that Knowledge is
power, but it has no
worth to your home
based business
unless it’s
implemented and
acted upon.
If you follow these
tips, you’ll be well
on your way to
increasing your
income while
reducing your stress
and work hours.
"Much may be done in
those little shreds
and patches of time
which every day
produces, and which
most men throw
away." - Charles

RELIABILITY
I recently spent
time analyzing what
guides me in my
business
relationships as
owner. It didn’t
take me long to
narrow down four key
elements that I
incorporate into my
business
transactions and
relationships. In
fact, my business
relationships are an
extension of how I
interact in my
personal
relationships. Why
shouldn’t my
customers and
business partners
receive the same
standards that my
friends and family
receive in my
personal
relationships?
The four key
elements of my
business
relationships are:
Trust - I need to be
able to trust a
business partner and
vendor. If I find
that a partner is
not living up to
their obligations in
being trustworthy,
then I need to sever
that relationship. I
believe that the
same expectation
must be extended by
me to my customers
and business
partners. If I’m not
honest with my
customers and
business partners
then why would they
continue to do
business with me?
They wouldn’t.
Business
relationships are a
two way street. Both
parties should come
out of the
relationship having
gained something. If
only one party wins,
then it’s an unfair
relationship.
Reliability – I
believe that it’s my
duty as a business
person to offer
reliable services to
my customers. In the
case of my business,
most of my products
and services are
provided by third
party advertisers. I
receive a commission
when my site leads
to a confirmed sale.
While my legal
obligations are
minimized, I do my
best to partner with
reliable
advertisers.
I always allow
customer feedback
and encourage my
site visitors to
contact me if they
encounter problems.
I do my best to
resolve any issues
that my visitors may
have. In this way
I’m providing my
visitors/customers
with a reliable
outlet to conduct
their shopping
transactions.
Honesty – Since my
site
tinkerspot.com
is a web development
and hosting services
website, my
obligation to my
visitors is to
provide them with
honest content. When
providing a web
development, design,
hosting services to
my visitors, I’m
honest and to the
point. I present the
facts the way that I
see them. While my
visitors may
disagree with my
point of view, they
hopefully will come
to see me as an
honest person.
I believe that
people need to
present the truth as
they see it and be
honest with their
customers, visitors
and business
partners. If your
partners and
customers see you as
an honest person
then they will be
more likely to do
more business with
you.
It’s definitely in
your best interest
as a businessperson
to conduct yourself
in an honest manner.
Integrity –
Integrity is defined
by dictionary.com as
having a strong
moral and ethical
code. In my personal
life I think about
how my maker would
want me to act in a
certain situation.
This guides me in me
in all my
relationships.
Each person has a
different code of
morals and ethics
and I’m not saying
that it has to come
from religion.
I believe that every
businessperson needs
to form their own
code of conduct.
That code of conduct
needs to have a set
of morals and
ethics. This set of
morals and ethics is
like a road map and
must be consistently
applied.
If you adhere to
your set of morals
and ethics you will
conduct yourself
with integrity. Your
business partners
and customers will
see you as a
principled person
who has a set of
standards that can
be trusted.
I believe that
incorporating trust,
reliability, honesty
and integrity into
your business
relationships are
vital to being a
success in
business...
